Do note that this method of hosting servers is a little more complex than hosting servers via the in-game "Host server" menu or the dedicated server executable included with the game.     I know this is the case because I've had a friend immediately see the lobby and a different friend not see the lobby. But I've also had some players see the lobby immediately. I'll even try playing in the server all on my own with bots for awhile, then players start joining.

    What's even weirder is that some people can join/see the lobby, and some people cannot.

    I just join the dedicated server using its direct IP. Sometimes the lobby never shows up at all even if I unselect the same version filter. I can't even see it on the server list, but if I unselect the 'same version' filter the lobby shows up, but only sometimes. When I host a dedicated server nobody can see it, it's set to public and everything. I did that for the two ports that the server uses by default.
